Ames duplex: Built in 1903, this 2 story duplex has a large yard and a big garden. Quite street in the Bandshell Park area of Ames. Close to downtown and the hospital. We bought this place 8 years ago and lived in half while renting the other half for a few years. It has a lot of woodwork and a brand new ($10,000!) roof. Top and bottom units are identical - nice sunrooms and built in antique wood hutches. The bad: Old, inefficient gravity fed furnaces! They'll never break, but they are expensive to run. Old water pipes work fine but are all jumbled up in the basement. The wiring works fine too, but its old. The basement is kinda creepy :-)
